Amie Jackson was named the 2008 Robert F. Rodgers Graduate Student of the Year, at the OCPA/OASPA Annual Conference.

Michael Mason is the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award Winner for the 2007-2008, awarded by the ACPA Commission for Admissions, Orientation and First Year Experience at the Annual Convention.

Jamie Reynolds (MEd 2004, and current Ph.D student) is the recipient of the 2008 NACADA Outstanding New Advisor Award

WELCOME New Faculty for Fall 2008

Dr. Martha Merrill, new Associate Professor of higher education administration and student personnel, is currently Dean of Academic Programs, International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership, New York, NY. Her extensive world-wide travel and work experience prepares her to coordinate the certificate in international higher education. She also brings 17 years of experience in community colleges.

Dr. Tracy Lara, new Assistant Professor of higher education administration and student personnel, is currently Assistant Professor of counseling and student affairs at Western Kentucky University. Her research interests include career development across the lifespan, pedagogy in counseling and student affairs, student development, and educational attainment among disenfranchised populations.

Dr. Awilda Hamilton, Associate Professor, joins the HIED faculty from serving as Department Chair with KSU's Educational Foundations and Special Services. She was an American Council on Education Fellow in 2004-05. This experience provided the opportunity to study the systemic elements of organizations that impact communication and collaboration. In addition, she studied the change process and how it affects an institution. These are areas she will continue to investigate as she continues in other leadership roles.
