ksu excellence in actionOnline Program Initiative

In the Spring of 2006, the Cultural Foundations Program implemented the first of its online cohorts of students - teachers from the Perry (Ohio) School District and surrounding districts, taking a Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree in Cultural Foundations, with a focus on standards-based education in a democracy. These students graduated in August, 2007.

There is currently another cohort doing the same focus and degree centered in Salem, Ohio. These students will graduate in August, 2008.

At present, the Salem cohort is the only fully-online master's program. We hope to begin another one with this same focus in Spring or Fall, 2008. However, we do have a number of courses online that can be taken at a distance as part of other degree program interest areas (see Master's Degree Programs).

Courses currently offered online (subject to number of enrolled students, and semester schedule; not all courses are offered every semester):

EDUC 65530 Foundations of Education 3
EDUC 65511 Research in Educational Services 3
EDUC 65524 Learning Theories 3
EDUC 65531 Professional Practice in a MC Society 3
EDPF 69564 History of American Education 3
EDPF 69572 Social Contexts of Education 3
EDPF 69591 The History of School Reform 3

In addition, there are three standards-based education courses that are currently available for cohort groups.

Since this is a relatively new initiative, we are building it as we go, and a great deal depends upon numbers of students enrolled in each program focus. As we grow, we hope to keep interested students aware of new developments, new courses offered online, and possible new cohort groups.
