Procedure for Writing Research Paper

1. Get clear instructions on paper requirement. Topic? Length? Style/Format of Citation? Due Date? Will instructor review and/or discuss drafts?
2. Identify several interesting possible topics.
3. Read several articles/sources to further identify and narrow a topic.
4. Identify points that might be made for each topic.
5. Select the topic you find most interesting.
6. Do readings, research on topic points you intend to make. Be sure to take notes and accurate bibliographic citation information.
7. Prepare a draft of the introduction. List the points you will make in the paper, and the citation for support. Prepare a draft of the summary.
8. Write a draft of the points you will make between the introduction and summary.
9. Rewrite and edit the entire draft.
10. Prepare final draft of paper for submission.
