PREPARING FOR TESTS

  1. Attend class, take notes. Keep up with readings.
  2. Review previous tests. Correct previous test errors.
  3. Learn the material. Ask questions of the professor.
  4. Employ recitation and rewrite for studying/learning.
  5. Studying for exams is an ongoing review process.
  6. Visualization, mnemonics, acronyms are useful as memory aids.
  7. Find out the type of test and the scope of content to be covered. AVOID CRAMMING!!!!!!!!!
  8. For objective tests: learn facts, terms, dates, specifics, formulae, concepts, classifications, etc.
  9. For subjective tests: learn relations, principles, evaluative or critical elements of the topics, etc.
  10. Get a good night's rest and try to relax the night before. Wear comfortable clothes to the exam.

TAKING THE TEST

  1. Get to test on time and sit where you always do.
  2. Have several pencils/pens and erasers.
  3. When the test is passed out, jot any mnemonics or acronyms you developed on the test.
  4. SCAN THE TEST!!!!!!!!!! Set time strategy for test.
  5. As a result of 4. you now know whether you have studied the right information for the test OR you haven't a snowball's chance in hell
  6. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS YOU KNOW FIRST!
  7. Answer the questions asked.
  8. If you blew the test, as you leave, as the instructor for an appointment to help you better prepare for the next exam.
  9. Forget about the exam until it is passed back.
