PREPARING FOR TESTS
- Attend class, take notes. Keep up with readings.
- Review previous tests. Correct previous test errors.
- Learn the material. Ask questions of the professor.
- Employ recitation and rewrite for studying/learning.
- Studying for exams is an ongoing review process.
- Visualization, mnemonics, acronyms are useful as memory aids.
- Find out the type of test and the scope of content to be covered. AVOID CRAMMING!!!!!!!!!
- For objective tests: learn facts, terms, dates, specifics, formulae, concepts, classifications, etc.
- For subjective tests: learn relations, principles, evaluative or critical elements of the topics, etc.
- Get a good night's rest and try to relax the night before. Wear comfortable clothes to the exam.
TAKING THE TEST
- Get to test on time and sit where you always do.
- Have several pencils/pens and erasers.
- When the test is passed out, jot any mnemonics or acronyms you developed on the test.
- SCAN THE TEST!!!!!!!!!! Set time strategy for test.
- As a result of 4. you now know whether you have studied the right information for the test OR you haven't a snowball's chance in hell
- ANSWER THE QUESTIONS YOU KNOW FIRST!
- Answer the questions asked.
- If you blew the test, as you leave, as the instructor for an appointment to help you better prepare for the next exam.
- Forget about the exam until it is passed back.
