Welcome to the Early Childhood Education webpage in the College of Education, Kent State University.
The Early Childhood faculty has a national reputation for their contributions to the field of Early Education. They have a strong commitment to closely mentoring their students. Early Childhood education spans birth to age eight. The Ohio license is for teaching children ages three to eight, preschool through primary.
The Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and Ohio's State Department of Education. Kent State's early childhood program places a strong emphasis on field experience. Undergraduate students and MAT students complete student teaching experiences in both pre-k and K-3 grades.
The KSU program offers the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Science Education
- Master of Education
- Master of Arts
- Master of Arts in Teaching

Curriculum & Instruction
Doctoral work is pursued through the Curriculum and Instruction program, where it is possible to develop a concentration in early childhood education.
Child Development Laboratory School
Kent State has a child development laboratory school, where students may complete field experiences, student teaching, research projects, theses and dissertations.
