The specialist degree requires a master's degree plus 30 additional approved semester hours of course work. Students taking course work beyond the master's degree, such as those completing license requirements, are encouraged to enroll in this degree. This degree does not require a thesis or dissertation.
The Ed.S. degree is a post master's practitioner program. This is not an interim step between the master and doctoral degrees, but provides preparation for a specialty position within the field of professional education.
