Some graduate assistantship opportunities exist for students admitted to the graduate programs in preK-12 educational administration. Decisions regarding graduate assistantships are generally made in mid-spring preceding the academic year of appointment. Applicants who seek assistantships are therefore advised to submit all application materials by the February preceding an intended fall enrollment.
Generally, graduate assistants are assigned to support one or more faculty members in their work. G.A. duties typically include library work, assistance with course preparation, word processing, and sometimes administrative and organizational tasks.
Limited opportunities exist for those who desire administrative experience in schools or colleges. Graduate assistantships in these offices are contingent upon faculty recommendations and successful interviews with site supervisors.
