Graduate students in Political Science Professor Steven Brown's summer course have traveled many miles to take his Q Methodology in Assessment and Research class at the Kent campus. Students from as far away as Turkey, Norway, United Kingdom and Bosnia and Herzegovina are taking this five-day workshop from May 19-23 to learn about a research method used in psychology and other social sciences to study people's viewpoint.
Q Methodology was developed by psychologist William Stephenson and is used in clinical settings for assessing patients, as well as in research settings to examine how people think about a topic.
This unique group of international and KSU students' areas of study span a wide range, from Justice Studies to Information Architecture and Knowledge Management to Counseling and Human Development. Many of the master's and doctoral students in Brown's course plan to use Q Methodology when conducting research for and writing their dissertations.
The Q Methodology workshop is part of the Professional Development Programs in the College and Graduate School of Education, Health, and Human Services. For more information or to view a complete list of College workshops, visit the Professional Development website.
