Selective Admission News
Early Childhood majors who are planning to go through selective admission this Fall semester (to begin Block I in Spring 2010):
What: Early Childhood essay
When: Friday September 11th - 9am, 1pm, OR 3pm
OR
Saturday, September 12th - 9am
Where: White Hall, Room 302
Students will choose ONE of the times listed above to write the essay. Students do not need to make a reservation, simply show up with a writing utensil (paper will be provided). All essay times will be an hour and a half in length.
REMINDER: Students must also fill out an Advanced Study application online through the Office of Student Services website at: https://www.ehhs.kent.edu/stuPortal/advStudy/asApply.php. Students must also have passing scores for the Praxis I on file (no exceptions!).

This application is the only way to know who is to be considered for Spring 2010 admission (with Block II in Fall 2010). In addition, your passing Praxis I scores MUST be received by 304 White Hall by September 11, 2009 in order to eligible to apply for selective admission (no exceptions!). To apply this semester for Fall 2010 Block II admission, you must either be taking or have taken the following courses with a grade of C (2.0) or better:
Block I (CHDS 20092 and HDFS 24013 together)
ITEC 19525
EDPF 29525
MATH 14001 & 14002 (unless math concentration and waived from 14002)
ENG 11011 and 21011ADED/Secondary Education - SPRING APPLICATION ONLY. More information to come. Admission review by the faculty is in spring only. Essay will take place early Spring semester. Information about the interview will be available at the essay. The required 2 letters of recommendation are to be brought by the student to the interview. Information about the letters of recommendation, as well as the forms, can be found at the Adolescence & Young Adult Education website. Students with a catalog year of 2004 and beyond will be admitted to the program on a selective basis.
