Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the education, health, and human services programs at Kent State University. The three academic departments and three schools in The College and Graduate of Education, Health, and Human Services offer 27 undergraduate programs and 19 Masters, six Education Specialist, and nine Ph.D. programs. The following information is for those seeking teacher licensure. However, if you are seeking information regarding our non-teacher licensure programs, please scroll down to the bottom.
The College of Education, Health, and Human Services has adopted strict grade point average requirements for admission to teacher education programs. Those who hold a bachelors degree must have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average for post-undergraduate study as well as for admission to the Graduate School (although some departments may require a higher minimum GPA). The College of Education, Health, and Human Services requires affirmation of the moral character of its students. Applicants to teacher education programs are required to sign a "Good Moral Character" affidavit prior to admission to a licensure program.
Since each licensure program is highly specialized, a transcript evaluation is the best way to determine required course work.
Please complete the transcript evaluation form and return it along with clean, legible copies of your transcript (s) to:
Vacca Office of Student Services
304 White Hall
Kent State University
P.O. Box 5190
Kent, OH 44242
Transcripts do not need to be official copies and recent KSU graduates (post-1988) do not need to supply transcripts. Transcripts sent in for review become the property of this office and will not be returned. Due to the high volume of evaluation requests, please expect a response in two to four weeks. We must have your evaluation request in by the following dates in order for you to start course work the following semester:
- July 31 - Fall semester
- November 15 - Spring semester
- April 30 - Summer semester
PLEASE NOTE: January 15 th is the deadline to request a content evaluation for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program.
In some cases, inquiries may be directed to the appropriate department for further evaluation (for Early Childhood Education, contact the faculty department directly).
