The students in the School Psychology Program at Kent State University welcome you. SASP congratulates you on your admission into the program. Starting graduate school is an adjustment for students on many levels.

The mentoring program is designed to ease the transition by helping students through a mentor who is available to provide information about:

  • the university,
  • housing,
  • academic expectations,
  • social activities,
  • their experiences in the program,
  • and more.

What is a Student Mentor?

Students within the school psychology program volunteer to assist members of new cohorts adjust to the program. A mentor can answer questions about what you are going to be experiencing in graduate school.

General questions can be directed to a mentor, however course advisement can only be done by your advisor.

Students are willing to offer you some insights about the program and the local area. sasp studentsHow to request a Mentor? If you are interested in this service, there are a few steps to take:

  1. Download and complete the Survey to Request a Mentor questionnaire to request a mentor.
  2. Email this completed form to sasp@kent.edu. (This email address is confidential.)
  3. Once the request is received, the Mentorship Committee Chair will match the request with a mentor. Your email address will be submitted  to the SASP member that will serve as your mentor.
  4. Your mentor will contact you at their earliest convenience.
